THE GP-10 that i have it's a beautiful sound creation machine but i cannot avoid to have a annoying background noise that make it unusable in live and in studio.
I have it connected by a usb cable to my music station and with its power supply.
Have you some ideas to try to solve this problem?
I my gk3 embedded (by me) into my custom guitar. I have changed the original (and not so sure) 13 pins output with a more reliable vga female output (the one that you have on the back of your graphic card).
I don't understand: i' ve controlled the ground welding on the cable side and on the connector on the guitar, it seems to be all good and perfectly conductive.
Have you some idea?

PS THe cable used is the original one, with one end modified with vga connector

I have had similar problems with effects units especially when using 4 cable method but even just before an amp or just in a loop.

The fix was running an extension chord to plug power from another room. Same idea with the computer power or amp power. It's worth a shot.

Cheers.

It's best to learn how to tame the noise in 4cable rigs, and multiprocessor  systems and when USB connection to computers are involved

It's battle we all face

Wow, I just came off two different gigs with the GP-10 and do not notice the noise of which you speak?
Are you hearing hiss?  buzzing?  clicking?  I've heard nothing of the sort from what I can tell.

I'd be curious to know your signal chain.

Are you going into a computer audio interface?  Monitor speakers?  I guess if you illustrate the signal path I can try to figure it out.

Does the noise go away when the USB cable is unplugged.?

I get that digital noise all the time when the pedals are hooked up to the computer via usb. My work around is to use a laptop which also makes the pedals give off the digital noise but works perfectly when you run the laptop on battery and unplug the adapter. Havent found a way to have the computer running on AC and noiseless.

Another suggestion: get a MIDX-20 from Codesmart. I run a GP-10 to the MIDX-20 to talk to a Morningstar MC6 foot controller. The GP-10, MIDX-20, MC6 and an EHX Key9 (hooked into the GP-10 "effects loop") are all powered from the same wall-wart. (MC6 draws power via the USB connector from the MIDX-20, so no need to run a separate power cable to that.)

No noise issues, live or otherwise. If you need to hook up other MIDI gear too, no noise problems: MIDI connections are opto-isolated.
