SUMMER NAMM 2016: Regular NAMM-goers may have spotted Evolution Guitars at the show over the past couple of the years, but this year, the company plans to release its design for the first modular guitar to the public.

Four different faceplate sound profiles are available for the guitar: metal, jazz, rock/blues and hip-hop - the modular design means these can be swapped at will, and allows one guitar to possess an unlimited variety of tones and styles.
https://youtu.be/vD6W6PYkwto

Each faceplate retails for around half the cost of the full guitar, although Players Package and Studio Package bundles will offer discounted bundles. Players keen to put their own stamp on the guitar can also work with Evolution Guitars Custom Shop to create customised faceplates.

We don't know much about specs so far, but the modular design packs a semi-hollow body, and cavities for two humbuckers - GHS provides the strings, while GuitarHeads.net supplies the faceplates' pickups.

The designs have been two years in the making, but there's no word on pricing yet. We look forward to a more in-depth video of those faceplates in action soon...

Due to many requests, the SKULLFUZZ is now available in a "tour/pedalboard friendly" housing.

The SKULLFUZZ internal circuit remains the same as in the other two versions of the SKULLFUZZ (Human Skull versions and the Art SkullFuzz).

Summer NAMM 2017: Fishman announces signature Fluence pickup sets for Will Adler, Killswitch Engage and Tosin Abasi
By Michael Astley-Brown (Total Guitar, Guitarist) 9 hours agoGuitars

Innovative active humbuckers offer multiple voices

SUMMER NAMM 2017: Fishman's Fluence pickups have been causing quite a stir in the guitar community, and now the company has collaborated with Will Adler, Killswitch Engage and Tosin Abasi on signature humbucker sets.

The Will Alder Modern Humbucker set (£469), designed by the Lamb Of God guitarist, offers ceramic bridge and alnico neck or mid-position 'buckers, which combine passive tones with the attack and dynamics of a modern active pickup.

Killswitch Engage's model (£429), meanwhile, features tighter bass for increased note definition and powerful midrange in voice 1. Voice 2 yields a vintage/medium-output hybrid passive tone for cleaner tones and leads.

Animals As Leaders' main man Tosin Abasi has developed three sets for six-string (£429), seven-string (£449) and eight-string (£469), which make multiple coil combinations available as well as different voicings.

Voice 1 offers a modern tone with fat low midrange, while voice 2 is bright and clean with detailed top-end; in the bridge, voice 2 offers a classic hard-rock tone with a cutting overwound midrange and PAF-style glassy highs.

These are a versatile bunch, all right. Head over to Fishman for more info.

Introduction
Introduction

SUMMER NAMM 2017: Another trade show brings with it another jaw-dropping assortment of guitars from the Fender Custom Shop and, as always, a few surprises, courtesy of the just-announced Mid-Year Limited Collection.

Most notable among this month's cohort is the '64 Special' Strat's green-on-pink sparkle painted-over finish, the Artisan Thinline Strat's natural koa body and the undiluted cool of the Twisted Tele's Bigsby vibrato.

But there's plenty more to drool over, so head on through the gallery for a closer look, and visit Fender Custom Shop for the full details.

Summer NAMM 2017: Fender launches Ed O'Brien Sustainer Stratocaster guitar
By Michael Astley-Brown (Total Guitar, Guitarist) 9 hours agoGuitars

Believe it: Radiohead guitarist gets a tricked-out signature model

(https://www.vguitarforums.com/smf/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fcdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net%2FPPwhkQUkaxrcMXhbHfbGmB-970-80.jpg&hash=74fc323aa80109a32e5709702aa1863bfec755ee)

SUMMER NAMM 2017: In one of the most exciting announcements from this year's show, Fender has partnered with Radiohead guitar genius Ed O'Brien to launch the EOB Sustainer Stratocaster.

Ed has kitted his Strat out with an intriguing combo of pickups: a Seymour Duncan JB Jr humbucker in the bridge, Texas Special single coil in the middle and Fernandes Sustainer in the neck, which is where the model gets its name.

Control over the Sustainer's infinite sustain comes via an on/off switch, intensity knob and three-position switch, to adjust between fundamental-only, harmonic-only or blend modes.

Elsewhere, there's a vintage-style synchronized tremolo bridge, vintage-style tuning machines, a '10/56 V' neck profile, 21 narrow-jumbo frets and a synthetic bone nut.

Ed's model is also notable for eschewing the any form of signature on the instrument, instead opting for a custom 'Flower of Life' engraved neck plate.

This is surely the most intriguing signature Strat Fender has produced for some time, and more importantly, it's the first piece of Radiohead signature gear ever.

You'll have to be patient, though: the EOB Sustainer Stratocaster is due to land on 14 November for £949 - true love waits, after all.

Now, any chance of reissuing Jonny Greenwood's favoured Telecaster Plus while you're at it, Fender?

Seymour Duncan releases Andromeda dynamic digital delay pedal
By Michael Astley-Brown (

Guitar stompbox responds to picking intensity

( just like the Boss GT100 already has been doing for 5 years )

(https://www.vguitarforums.com/smf/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fcdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net%2FUhQpuUV8pPzywQmTDdK3nj-970-80.jpg&hash=3d37a5d5ce09c421e04fc34587d302b91e714fb3)

Seymour Duncan has released official details on the Andromeda, which it first showcased back at NAMM.

A fully programmable digital delay, the Andromeda's big USP is its Dynamic Expression feature, which allows players to control settings for mix, modulation or saturation by altering the intensity of their pick attack.

Eight delay types are available, including both analogue and digital versions of normal, ping pong, reverse and reverse pong; these can be modified via saturation, tone, modulation and mix controls, as well as Dynamic Expression.

Tap tempo is also onboard, with four available subdivisions, while sounds can be saved in 128 presets.

Settings can be changed via MIDI in and through jacks, plus a USB port, which hooks up to a computer to access Seymour Duncan's Updater/Librarian software.

It's a promising feature set, and that Dynamic Expression tech might just secure it a place on our round-up of the best delay pedals in the world today...

The Andromeda is available now for $399/£429 - see Seymour Duncan for more.

I understand Katana 2 x 12 cab revealed at NAMM , utilizes same 16 ohm speakers as Katana 100-212 combo -( 8 ohm total load)  but this tuned cabinet provides more  low end girth and thumb vs any open back combo

But if open back is what you prefer  - there is a removable rear panel so the player can have an open back option too - its like a working mans Waza 2 x12 cab

Quilter Guitar Amplifiers
See all items from Quilter Guitar Amplifiers
Product Description
Featuring a built-in digital reverb, expanded control set with Bass, Mid, and Treble and a built-in FX Loop, the 101 steps out from a supporting role for your pedals and into the limelight as a full featured guitar head!

The Quilter 101 Mini head has an interesting new take on the usual three-knob EQ section, the Bass and Treble controls use traditional 'tone stack' technology, yielding a familiar bright chime based on 50 years of tradition, while the active Mid control provides a more strongly voiced cut/boost function for increased versatility. Increasing the Mid control boosts the frequencies that give an aggressive 'D-Style' bite to the sound, while decreasing Mid brings out that familiar clean-60's Blackface tone.

Quilter 101 Mini Guitar Amplifier Head with Reverb Features
Digital reverb
50 watts of 'FullQ' power
Gain, Limiter, Bass, Mid, Treble, Reverb, and Master controls
1/4 inch high impedance input jack
Effects Loop: 1/4 inch Send and Return jacks
1/4 inch Headphone jack for quiet practice
Dual 1/4 inch speaker outputs for variable loads 16 to 4 ohms
Standard IEC power cable (non locking)
Universal power supply – automatically works anywhere in the world
Ultra compact (roughly the size of a double wide effects pedal)
Weighing the same 2 pounds as its little brother, the 101 Reverb is so light you'll think we forgot to put the guts in! Even with the same compact footprint, it has more than enough power to bring any cabinet to life.

The 101 Reverb carries forward all the tone and power you've come to expect, while forging new sonic territory. Unlike last-generation solid state technologies, Quilter amplifiers have enormous internal headroom far above their published rated power. This means you get extra voltage swing, huge transients, and more importantly, the feel and harmonic content that usually requires glowing bottles.

Turn the Master way down, or plug in your headphones and keep it totally quiet, as you work on your music late into the evening. The 101 Reverb is the perfect missing link between your effects and your speaker cab.

Backed by an industry-leading warranty, Quilter amplifiers are setting new standards in performance amplification. Your new Quilter 101 Reverb will be far more reliable than any traditional technology. Quilter amplifiers are committed to ensuring you get the most from your tone – every gig, every song, every time.
