Here's my question :

I want to go from one to the other

  • Shure 520D Green Bullet mic

  • Electric guitar

- - - into a guitar amp input .

I also use :

  • SM57 Shure or SM58 into P.A.s and tube / Polytone S.S. amps
[/li][/list]

Besides the A/B/Y , is there
a A/B/Y/ to a Z  if I wanted to shift from just the harp mics .
Or a A/B/Y/X/ to Z if I wanted all three mic combinations
and the guitar in the choice .

I realize the SM57 & 58 are LoHZ compared
to the HiZ of the guitar & Shure Bros 520D Green Bullet .
I know I'll need a x-former LoZ to HiZ in this type set up .

I play though  tube amps and P.A.s

Input gang - I don't see an issue since I already go
into guitar amps directly with the Shure Bros. Green Bullet  .

What I'm wondering is the input gain level between one or
the other demonstrably being stronger as in the mic(s) vs the guitar signal .

Always used the tube for harps , now that my guitar chops are
where they should be for stage level playing the amp will now double
up the guitar too . I'd try this set up through my S.S. Polytone Mini Brute IV III

I'm about to get a T.C. Helicon Vocal Live 3 Extreme and also want
to try this in it for live playing/looping .

The obvious reasons for a tube guitar amp you/me/them know already why
we use those for an electric guitar - harp well , here's the skinny why .

Harp players like Paul Butterfield and others like him liked to hook
up a SM57 and pump it directly into a Fender Bassman . In the hands of a
master like Butterfield and those who learned this technique know full well
the explosive powerful tones you can rage with going this rout .

A comparison is a Strat hooked to a Bassman - Twin Reverb or vibro Champ
sound with a SM57 vs a tone like a Shure Bros Green Bullet 520D = Les Pau
into similar amps . There are other variations in sound textures different mics
give , like that of Astatic crytal mics and similar .

Anyways I'll find out soon enough one way or the other cause I am placing
my order tomorrow for that VL3X .

For a A/B/C selector foot switch with independent gain controls  - to compensate for the different output levels of each device

I bought one of the Trinity 3 way switches. It works great, especially with the gain controls. I run 3 guitars into my amp, and the volume shifts between them is easily compensated for with the switch. I don't have to touch my amp when I grab a different guitar.

I have a Morley 3 way too, but without the gain controls, it stays at home.

Thanks to all of you who helped with your appreciated input .

I found this company while searching , a really attrative price compared to the
Big Yellow ABY switch that I liked .

This one below has four inputs , way cool !
