Almost every time the I post something, I click the post button, and the index.php downloads to my machine, and the screen just stays like the click event never happened.  I tried to post this thread over 6 times. Since this thread even exists means that there are times when the click event does occur, but if it was working correctly, there should be at least 6 duplicate threads.

What browser are you using?   What version?

Have you tried a different browser?

Please try clearing your browser cache, & let me know if that helps.

You are the 2nd person to report this.  There are known issues along these lines with Firefox.

Steve and Shawnb, I think this is the same issue that I was telling you guys about a short while back that I was having on log in to this web site. It did this again when I logged in to reply to this thread. I don't know what it is but I have found that if I click the "cancel" button on the popup window, then hit the "refresh" button on my browser, it shows that I have logged in and all is normal. ???? it will likely come up again when I hit the post button. I have windows 8.1,currently using Firefox v 50.1.0, and it only happens at this website. I have at least 12 other sites where login info is saved on this computer and it does not happen. Just at VGuitar forums if this helps.

Mrchevy -

Follow the instructions on this link...  Let me know if you had an entry for php files:

Lespauled -

Please clear your browser cache in Chrome.   Shift-Ctl-Del.  You only need to select "cached images and files" - no need to delete cookies, passwords etc.

Let me know if this clears it up for you.

2ND possible source of the issue for Chrome users:  Do you use IDM, Internet Download Manager?  If so, disable Chrome in it.  IDM is known to do this for Chrome users as well.

shawnb, I found this which may be of interest to you guys regarding Firefox/chrome. Apparently its a newer security thing regarding password security on websites with HTTP vs. HTTPS. All this is beyond me but sounds like something between Firefox/chrome, site admins, and servers. Im sure that there is probably some setting on my end,(user), to bypass/disable, or work-around, but do I really want to bypass a security measure that could potentially allow someone to steel my login info here, and post nudes of Rosie O'Donald :-[.

I don't quite understand where I'm suppose to find this entry. The link leads to a page with several links and instructions. If you could be more specific of what exactly your looking for and where to find it, I'd be glad to check and report. All this is foreign to me :o

In Firefox:
 - Click on the little menu icon in the upper right
 - Click on "Options", the tile with the gear
 - Click on "Applications", the tile in the upper middle

This will bring you to a list of Content Types and Actions.   Let me know if you see anything like "php" in the Content Type column.  If so, we need to find a way to delete that...

Yes, most browsers and search engines are trying to promote folks to use TLS and SSL, which are protocols for encrypting internet traffic.  You know you are using this if you see https: in your URL.

In the past, it was considered important only for financial transactions.  E.g., NEVER enter any sensitive information, such as a credit card #, online unless you see https:.

Going forward, *any* website is being encouraged to use TLS/SSL (https:).  Google is already prioritizing secure content over non-secure content.

Yes, we should do so at some point.  This is not urgent, as we do not handle sensitive information.

Do you have IDM, Internet Download Manager installed?

If so, check out this thread which explains how to fix it:

I'm starting to run out of ideas here...  There are dozens of reports of FF users having similar issues out there, with many different causes in the FF setup...

Are you on the latest version of Firefox?   (Maybe an upgrade will help?)

Do other browsers work?   (To confirm whether this is specific to FF's config...)

Same setup here - usually use I.E 11 on Windows 64 bit Pro, but just switched to Chrome to test.
No problems for me..

You are not running any background web hosting services on your computer?
Not a anti-virus program being overly zealous?
