Hey Guys,
This is my first post and I want to thank y'all for all that I've been able to learn from the forum over the last two weeks. That being said, I just bought a GR-55 and have been able to link it to my Gt-10b via Midi and change patches. What I would love to be able to do is have a tablet to display lyrics and change patches during performances wirelessly. I would love to hear your recomendations for all that I would need to make this happen. I have tried using a Kindle fire with a USB cable to the GT-10b using Band Helper with no luck. So, whatever software, interfaces, and tablet recomendations would be awesome.
Thanks and great to be a part of such an awesome community of brilliant and creative people,
Todd

hi Todd,
I have a GR-55 and use to have a GT-10B (now a GT-100).

The USB cable won't work unless the device supports a GT/GR USB driver (windows or mac), or a Linux variant, and only latest versions of Android (5+ possibly?). Not sure which android OS the Kindle is running, they start from Android 2.3.3, the Boss/Roland gears USB is not class compliant and requires special drivers.
Wireless is not impossible, just more costly, requiring a special midi transmitter and a midi receiver modules, and a (class compliant) USB to Midi adapter for the Kindle.
I would suggest a full Windows (or Mac) Tablet (avoid Windows RT), so you can also run editor software, and have no issues with USB device drivers.

Free "GR-55 FloorBoard" editor software from https://sourceforge.net/projects/grfloorboard/

thanks gumtown. I'm sure an iPad would be much more conducive than the kindle?

If you use an iPad you can use either Jamstix PUC+ or QUICCOsound mi.1 wireless MIDI to 5 pin DIN adapter and connect to GR-55 5pin DIN MIDI IN.

THen on IPad run SetlistMaker or OnSong to view lyrics and trigger MIDI Program changes to change GR-55 presets remotely.

That's exactly what I needed to know Elantric! Thanks!

I'm on vacation in Mexico so I couldn't answer any faster. I'm using the qui co sound to wirelessly send midi with Setlist Manager on an iPad to my Kemper and GR55. I've had a few issues with the quicco and may try the puck next. But I think it's more a problem with the way the midi jacks are on the Kemper

Hey everybody. Just a follow up. I got an iPad, the quicco mi.1 and bandleader. This works like a charm now! Thanks for the help

Electric is it possible to now use quicco mi.1 to wireless record into garage band on my ipad? If so I haven't been able to pull  it off yet. Thanks again.

Thats MIDi date moves on the opposites direction

Need more details on what your rig is? - but if its a VG-99 or GR-55 - yes

I have the gr-55 and gt10b. I have the quicco units hooked up to each but haven't been able to get garage band to recognize them yet.

Forget the GT10B - that will not transmit MIDI Note on/off  messages needed for playing iPad Synths in GarageBand

And there is no chance for recording audio from GR-55 wirelessly in GarageBand

Baby step it - I think its mandatory to own these to debug your goal

Enable GTR to MIDI on GR-55 - ( its off by  default)  - see link in GR-55 FAQ
get an  Apple Camera Adapter

Get things working 100% above  playing iPad Synths in GarageBand using GR-55 as GTR-MIDI Controller.

then migrate to the wireless interface you prefer.

Some folks prefer the latest generation PUC+, because it runs on batteries and has good indicator lights
