 8)  Hi Shads fans,

With help from a couple of forum members I have created a hank Apache strat sound that i am
very happy with (for GR-55). I will probably fine tune it as time goes by but happy for now.
I followed hanks demo on utube to achieve the final result. Now to work on Wonderful land sound.
Please check out attachment.

Thanks Ecca and Mrchevy

What have you changed from the original patch Anvil ?

anvil

Sorry for being late with reply, have not been home for a few days.
I use the basic stratocaster sound with bridge pick up.
used vox amp lead. twiddled around with EQ and reverb.
took some time to get delay, that was most challenging.
not perfect put close to Hanks.

all the best for the new year.

Hi Anvil
I would be happy if someone could tweak my patch (MIKE OLDFIELD-Wonderful Land) "to the point".

hi papabuss,

In the near future I will work on Hank Marvins "wonderful land" sound.
the delay is quite different to Apache.
I will listen to Mike Oldfields version and get back to you.
Think he used a couple of different sounds.
Need to research equipment he used for the recording session .
I downloaded your patch.

What's your problem with the delay timings Anvil ?
It's well catalogued, indeed old hat .

anvil

Hi Ecca

The delay (echo according to Hank) is not constant with fading out. instead its  2 monophonic pulses (short pause)followed by 2 more pulses. Last 2 pulses have only a slight reduction in volume. This gives the delay a kind of rhythm. I know that some might think its trivial but Hank is very pedantic about his sound.
I am only a new member so i am not fully up to date with all hashes of this subject. I will try to keep my posts original in future. The hank sound for me is kind of a holy grail.

Have a listen to Peace Pipe then Anvil and tell me if this echo is good enough for you.

Hi Ecca,
Is the lead guitar sound a patch for gp-55? Are you playing a strat?
nicely played coloured with some fills.
I have attached my version of Peace Pipe and Wonderful Land. They were recorded
about a decade ago and I modelled the lead guitar with the roland GS-6. bit of a dinosaur
but still holds its own.
nowadays I use a Boss gt-6 and of cause the gr-55.
I am still in the process of modelling the peacepipe and wonderful land patch for the gr-55
for public performance. Shads patches (gr-55) that i have downloaded from the net, i have not been entirely satisfied with.

All the best , Anvil

PS the chap in the Photo on the right is Phil Emmanuel brother of Tommy Emmanuel.
Yours truly (me the good looking one) on the left. Phil has been performing shadows material since he was 10 years old.
a fine guitarist (even better when he has had a couple of nips of jack Daniels). He still performs shads stuff with his band. You might want to check out his
CD "in the shadows of the beatles".

all the best, anvil

Interesting clip.
The fan in England was Charlie Hall.
http://charliehall.proboards.com/index.cgi
I've seen that clip before, it's some years old , he now uses an echo unit made by TVS in Australia.
http://www.tvsspecialtyproducts.com/page8.htm

In point of fact neither of the 2 Meazzi Echomatic machines that he originally used possessed  a variable speed but they had a huge combination of head/feedback combinations.

I play every week at a Shadows Club and have to try these Meazzis out after they've been repaired by a friend of mine that runs the above Meazzi site.
Cheers for posting .
