Title: New VG-99 Owner!!
Post by: chadwylde on December 24, 2011, 04:21:02 AM
Hi, my name is Chad I just picked up a 99 and gk-3 for $950.  I was going to get the GR-55 cause NEW its actually cheaper, but I like knobs! I have been playing for 18 years and I think this is the 3rd time I went to digital from tube.  For the last 8 years the only "effect" I had between the guitar and amp was the cable :P  This thing is a blast so far, and now I have more than 1 tone!!  I still am using my trusty peavey classic 50 4x10 for amplifying the 99 though.

Hi Chad,

Good move.  I've been 99ing for a few years now and although i still love plugging my guitar into my Peavey Delta Blues amp, its great to have that range of sounds from the VG99.  One thing i would say is try it direct into a mixing desk or through a keyboard amp.  Guitar amps will colour the sound (some more than others) but a keyboard amp is designed to be clean.

Yes, I now am playing it through an old karaoke machine and it sounds waaaaaay better than the old peavey classic 50.  Now It's got me looking at the Traynor k-4, Motion sound, or a mini lightweight pa.
