Newbie. I want to use the GR55 with GK3 pickup on a Martin acoustic electric. GR55 set for headphones. Guitar currently has new phosphor bronze strings. The lower pitch strings (EADG) do not even register in tuning mode and their tone sounds muddy and low volume, while the other (BE) strings register much louder but crap sounding. Checked volume, etc. on units & pickup controls. Tried adjusting the sensitivity but that doesn't help. Any suggestions from other acoustic users?

Bronze is a non-ferrous metal and is largely "invisible" to magnetic pickups like the GK-3.  That's why the solid steel strings are sounding out and the bottom four are not.  What little you do hear from the wound strings is being picked up from the core.  You will need to use electric guitar strings to make this work - or - consider a hexaphonic bridge pickup system that relies on vibrational transducers.

I play with phosphor bronze strings on a Crafter TMVS. It works like a charm. You will have to adjust the sensitivity values of the strings. Sensitivity on lower strings is much higher than the higher ones. But it should work fine. What are your GK settings?
