I got mine and love it.
Used it the next day on the EHX Pitch Fork demo.

The software is beta and is a mess. I am sure that will get fixed.
BUT the box and drums sound wonderful!

I got mine after 6 months (per-order). Works great.  ;D  The extra pedal is something you need to have.
But I got more gear than I need...and I like it!

Bill Ruppert

I also love mine.
Got it and used it on a track the next day.
Its sounds fantastic.
The user software is not there yet, but for now its a great tool.
Plug it in line with your gear and its great real drums.
Beats any computer software thing I have used.

$350 is a bit too much for me.My little Zoom and a Boss footswitch works great when I gig with just a bass player.Does everything well and sounds really good.Programs easily too.
This is interesting though.I will have to hear it.

Thats about the same price for a decent 128GB iPad+SampleTank 3, DM-1 OSX Drum App , MIDBridge =  far more versatile than a Beatbuddy IMHO

I have an iPad 2.
Where do you suggest I step on it live to play a fill?

By using a MIDi footpedal   - I often use an old Zoom 8050 ( found on Ebay for under $50 with a USB Class Compliant USB MIDI cable $15 to remote trigger many iPad apps

My point is $350 for a stompbox Drum machine is a bit rich for my blood.

I got it at 199 through the Indigogo campaign. Used it live couple weeks ago when the editor finally came out. The one flaw it has that all great gear have is...user error (takes me forever to write a Midi Drum track!)

FYI- If you download the Manager and the Default SD card content (available at the site) you can use your keyboard like you would the pedal, and don't quote me on this and you did hear it from me:

The great thing with this thing is that you realise how bad your timing with rhythm is.
The normal flesh-and-blood "thing" behind the drums is much more forgiving.
In some way I hate playing with this pedal guy, but love him on the other hand because he makes me improve my timing. I know you can practice cheaper than this but it's a nice format. No computadora, just a pedal  :D

Still haven't got mine, but this is the closest thing I found that does what I do with Ableton Live and Superior Drummer (apart from live variable hi-hat and velocity). At the same time it doesn't require me to bring a FC-300, EV-5, a sound card and my MacBook. Best thing: I can easily adapt and copy my Ableton live patterns to this nice little piece of equipment.
To V or not to V: That is the question.

The software is great now.
I LOVE this thing. The sounds are stellar.

I have one and it's really aimed for live use. it's really unnecessary unless you plan it to use it live otherwise it's a glorified metronome. I had a couple fails using it live being the main guitarist and operating the Beat Buddy. it's an instrument in itself so you have to practice using it to get it to sound natural in performance. The sound quality is amazing. My biggest complain is how the footswitches work. There is minimal options to change how they perform and they can't be controlled by MIDI.

myksara

I am really on the fence and considering the following 3:
1. Beatbuddy w footswitch
2. Alesis SR18 w footswitch
3. Trio+ with footswitch

My main requirements are:
1. Easy for live use
2. Intro,fills,a/b parts per pattern and a nice outro drum ending
3. Bass accompaniment is good to have but not a deal breaker
4. Minimal programming fuss. Want to spend time playing guitar and not making patterns as I have very limited time per day (1 hr) and play live only on the weekends.
5. Ability to load custom loops or kits- tabla would be superb as I play a blend of indian and western.
Any suggestions or recommendations?

I have a friend that was interested in one.

She wants to be able to change drum patterns and also effects presets (she loves running drum machines through distortion and other FX) with one foot stomp.  I said that the Beat Buddy would have to be able to send or receive MIDI Program Change.  It didn't look like it could at the time I helped her research this pedal.

Looks like this might have changed by now:
