Pardon the newbie question, but with which piece of gear will a .g5l patch be used? A GR-3? Does this mean I can plug this into my GR-33 somehow? Guess I need to read up on getting patches into that thing.

Oh yeah -- the mp3?  Sounds just like the record, mon. Good job!
Best,
Michael

Observe this thread is located in the GR-55 Patch sharing area

g5l files are GR-55 Patches - can be used with a Roland GR-55 which has COSM Guitar /Amp modeling  - like the VG-99.

You will not be able to replicate these Guitar  / Amp Sim sounds with earlier Roland GR-xx devices.

But you may download the shareware Gumtown GR-55 Floorboard Editor and review / inspect all the Guitar/Amp/FX settings employed on each GR-55 *.g5l patch in this area  - without owning a GR-55

Thanks for the clarification, Elantric.

Gumtown's ongoing project seems to be a genuinely nice item to have if you own a GR-55. But since I'm not planning to buy one, I guess I don't see the point in playing around with it.

Besides, I guess once I get my GR-33 reintroduced into my DAW, I'll configure it as a controller, and then I'll have access to most all the patches in my machine. Dunno if any are that Dire Straits twang, though.
Best,
Michael

For some reason, I cant get any sound from this patch using either Floorboard (20131103) or Librarian.  Any ideas?

So it is a real Fender EC through GR55 or it is Fender COSM emulation?

Spider, I have just looked at the patch. Only the NORMAL PICKUP is activated. So it must be his FENDER STRAT EC and pickup setting (R+C) through GR55.

Hello,

I just tried this one and I get a synth-sound nothing like a dire straights strat? Could it be that something has changed in the firmware?

You probably have some setting in the ASSIGN area that needs to be changed or use another way to load the preset.
