Hi,

I haven't posted here in a long time.  I own a VG99, a GR20 and two hex equipped guitars (with with a Ghost system piezo and one with an internal GK3).  Both guitars work very well with both the VG99 and GR20 but I would like to use my guitars to control some virtual instruments inside my DAW, like East West LEAP RA, or MOTU Ethno Instrument. 

I have not had good success using the either the VG or the GR's midi out.  It sort of works but I get lots of stuck notes, hammer-ons and pull-offs don't work very well, etc.  Just not very useable in general.  Before I got my VG I used to have a GI20 and that seemed to work much better as I remember when I used it with Reason.  Unfortunately I sold the GI to help fund the VG (thinking I wouldn't need it anymore) and now I see they are no longer sold.  I checked into the Axon USB 50 which sounded like a good replacement but they are also no longer made.

Does anyone here do this sort of thing and if so how?  Am I missing something when it comes to using the MIDI out of my VG?  Am I just not setting it up correctly (I've read that others haven't had success with the VG MIDI either)?  I would really appreciate some of your experience on this.  I hate fumbling along with a keyboard.

I'm still not getting the result I'm looking for, so I purchased a GI-20 from Ebay.  Having owned one before and remembering having very good results with it, I'm hoping this does the trick.

I did find converter called a Stringport made by Keith McMillen Instruments but it is a Mac only device.  Has anyone heard of this device?
