Hi,
I am new to the GP10... Can I get any background synth sounds (like strings) when I am using the open tuning settings with the GP10?
Thanks,
David

No , not if you mean all in the GP
You can use either modeled guitar with an alt tuning
or a synth algorithm , not at the same time
( both can be used simultaneous with the normal guitar PU )

I play Country music too, I'm just not sure which country it's from...

If only you'd bought a VG99! Just kidding....

Consider the new EHX Synth9 pedal that will track your alt tuning and give you the pads you want ;)

Alternatively, consider Variax guitar or possibly Antares ATG to free up the GP10 of having to do the alternate tuning

2 GP10s is good!

I keep wondering whether to ditch the VG99 and go 2 GP10 route

NEVER ditch the VG-99!

Or if you want you can try this with the GP-10:
Have GK out from the guitar going to the GP-10 and have the regular out to a standard analog rig and try that!
