What is your issue?

You adjust these to suite your task

Some of these settings are better explained in the Boss GT-100 Manuals

QuoteYes, highly recommended.
The only down side for me is FxFloorBoard does not work under version 2, because the patch size is now soooo much bigger,
and for good reason too.
A heap of new effects,
a new and extra/separate "Delay2" including the retro Boss SDE-3000 delay unit.
EVH Flanger and Phaser 90 added to MOD and FX
Send/Return loop with adjustable levels per channel.
Katana 100 now has 8 channels, Katana 50 has 4 channels.
A new separate Equaliser unit.
A new Global EQ
Output Select options called "Air Feel" (live/recording options)
Extensive midi program change and midi CC# control options and GAFC pedal assign options.

FxFloorBoard has some updating to do.... stay tuned folks :)

As always - try the new Boss Studio for Katana 2.0 in "offline" mode to explore all the new features and FX
https://www.boss.info/global/products/katana-100/downloads/

How to tell the version

Please check the version of the system working on your KATANA before downloading the archive file.
1.Turn the POWER switch on while holding down the [ TAP ] button.

2.If the indicators light up as described below, the system is at the latest version.
For KATANA-100, KATANA-100/212, or KATANA-HEAD
•When the [ POWER CONTROL ] switch is adjusted to "0.5W," the indicator for "DELAY/FX" lights up.
•When the [ POWER CONTROL ] switch is adjusted to "100W," the indicator for "REVERB" lights up.

For KATANA-50
•When the [ POWER CONTROL ] switch is adjusted to "0.5W," the indicator for "DELAY/FX" lights up.
•When the [ POWER CONTROL ] switch is adjusted to "50W," the indicator for "REVERB" lights up.
If the indicators light up in a different way than just described, perform an update.

3.When you have finished verifying the version, turn off the power.
* Don't perform the update if the product is already up-to-date.

Getting the update file

Please open/extract the downloaded "katana_sys_v201.zip" file on your computer to get the two update files named "ROMINFO.TXT" and "KATANARM.BIN" in the "katana_sys_v201" folder.

Procedure for the update
Caution •You must not rename the extracted files.
•Never turn off the KATANA's power while the update is in progress. Otherwise the system program or the KATANA itself may be destroyed.
Please install the extracted system program files into your KATANA according to the following procedure.
1.Adjust the [ MASTER ] knob to minimum.
* Do not connect the KATANA and the computer yet.
2.Turn the POWER switch on while holding down both the [ CH1 ] and [ PANEL ] Tone Setting buttons.
The indicators for the [CH1] ~ [CH4] buttons flash.
3.Connect the computer to the KATANA's USB port by a USB cable.
The indicators for the [CH1] through [CH2]/[CH4] buttons stop flashing and stay lighted, and a "BOSS_KATANA" drive appears on the computer screen.
4.Open the BOSS_KATANA icon.
"Removable Disk (*:)" may appear instead of the BOSS_KATANA icon.
5.Copy (drag and drop) all the files included in the "katana_sys_v201" folder into the "BOSS_KATANA" icon.
* Do not copy the "katana_sys_v201" folder.
6.Disconnect the BOSS_KATANA from the computer.
With Windows 10 / Windows 8.1 / Windows 7

Right-click on the "BOSS_KATANA" icon in My Computer (or the "Removable Disk (*:)" icon) and execute "Eject."
With Mac OS

Drag the "BOSS_KATANA" icon to the Trash icon in the Dock.

7.Disconnect the USB cable.
The [PANEL] button flashes.
8.Press [ PANEL ] button to start the update process.
While the update is in progress, the "EFFECTS" indicators light up.
9.When the update has finished, the "EFFECTS" indicators slowly flash simultaneously.
10.Turn the KATANA power off.
This completes the update operation. The new system program runs at the next startup.
Follow the procedure for verifying the version to verify that the version has been updated.

Sounds like a world of hurt on multiple levels

Perhaps you missed the message about NOT upgrading to High Sierra just yet

I suspect the hurdle is lack of "High Sierra" USB Drivers for Katana

VOX me baby, VOX me all night long!

I've been exploring the various sneaky amps and wasn't very impressed with the default tone of VOX model. Kinda woofy, no clarity, and none of the sparkle that I would hope a VOX clean would offer... I kinda ignored it, and went on to other amps that sounded good right away with a minimum of tweaking. Marshall 1959's, Matchless, Marshall JCM 800 all have a place on my presets now with great dialed in sounds.

Today, I heard the guys from That Pedal Show do a whole show on the VOX AC 15 and I loved the sounds they were getting, especially the clean tones. I wanted that! So back to the VOX model on the Katana with a new determination to dial something in if I could. It took a while, but I found the "secret". Much like the real VOX amps have unusual tone stacks that aren't like many other amps... the Katana VOX models also were quite different from the others. The first big clue... I was trying to get more sparkle, so normally I would turn the presence control up... when I did that, it got muddier... so... turned the presence all the way off... voila... here was some sparkly tone! Again, normally to highlight the treble, I would cut the mids... but on this model, it was boosting the mids that did it. So, presence at 0, mids 100%, bass at 10, and treble at 80 ended up being a very, very good clean tone with all the sparkle and clarity I was looking for. Jumping into the eq settings, I bumped the high and cut the mids a smidge. So far, it's my new go to clean channel.

These settings would be radical on any other model, imho... but it shows the capability of the Katana to dial in tones that are far from the norm. YMMV.

Heads up regarding the Delay2 function and the tap tempo: If you have two delays running, the tap tempo will only work on Delay 1. However, if you turn the Delay1 off (I'm using the GA-FC), then the tap function starts working on Delay2. If you are good with your foot, you can get two different synced delays going, but it takes a specific workflow. This functionality can also get in the way if you use Delay2 as a doubler (e.g. 50ms) and like to pre-tap your tempo before engaging Delay1: your doubling setting will start to sync to the tap and you will have to click out of the patch and back in again to reset the stored delay times. Also, note that there is a second page in the editor for the SDE-3000: look for the the little 1 2 boxes to the right of the new EQ NS S/R buttons.

You can switch easily between tapping DLY1 or DLY2 by long-pressing the tap button on either the amp or the GA-FC.
To V or not to V: That is the question.

FWIW: For those with a MIDX-20, they will be able to control both Tap tempos individually by connecting a dual footswitch to one of the MIDX CTRL jacks (and setting it up properly), or control the taps individually from an external controller (there are two separate CC's for the taps).
But I got more gear than I need...and I like it!

That's interesting.  Did Roland document this or is it something you discovered?  Is there any feedback to indicate when it's changed state?

Do you play with a band? How can you change your preset at the right time when you need to hold a switch for 1 second?

On the other hand, what if you need to let's say jump from 1A to 2B instantly. Hold a switch for a second, then hit B!? IMO, the procedure for changing banks is unacceptable for anyone who plays paid gigs.

If you are using the GA-FC, a footswitch (sold separately: FS-5U) is connected to the
rear panel VOLUME jack or the FX jack, you can use it to
instantly switch between BANK A and BANK B.

Quote from: PlexiFuzz, post: 25732957, member: 6380Just double checking: is the cabinet resonance control on the Artist functionally the same thing as what we have access to in BTS for the regular katanas?
Yes

QuoteYeah, I was confused by the way things were labeled in BTS. I thought that it was both a) air feel and b) cabinet resonance specifically for the line out and cab sim.

I didn't realize until seeing the Artist discussed that the might be for the actual amp itself. I just messed with it and, though subtle, I really like Vintage vs the default Modern setting. Sounds more natural to me.

KATANA ARTIST OWNERS MANUAL
https://www.boss.info/global/support/by_product/katana-artist/owners_manuals/

Read the new common Owners manual
https://static.roland.com/assets/media/pdf/KATANA_eng03_W.pdf

Roland mentions the MIDI commands for Head and Artist  - but Ive checked the Katana 50 and Katana 100 combos with a MIDI Monitor and can confirm the combos  support these same MIDI commands using MIDI over USB

worth trying with older Katana - AFTER loading latest firmware 2.04

Hello, I have an Imac with OS sierra 10.12.6, I updated to BTS 2.1 but when I go to see the version is 2.0 .... is it normal?
