Is my Godin XTSA Piezo adequately earthed?

I have a 2012 Godin XTSA which has developed a fault of one piezo giving a lower level/slight distortion (in my case the B string).

Looking around VGuitarforums, I see a few people have had this on different guitar models, the problem could be hand sweat breaking down conductive glue connections? and the fix seems to be cleaning under the saddle of the affected piezo for a better earth contact, or giving each piezo its own discrete earth wire direct to the circuit board.

As far as the earth wire goes, the current wire from each piezo has an earth already connected directly to the circuit board by way of the conductive shield (see photo).

I've taken the whole bridge apart/cleaned etc.
Also re-soldered the Piezo signal & earth to the board - no change to the fault condition.

So I'm wondering...
Is this earth shield insufficient and it needs a thicker wire?
.... if that's the case, how the heck do I solder at the piezo end?! (can it be opened?)

If it's not an earth issue, I guess I need to source a new piezo to here in NZ
May be easier buy another XTSA for parts!
