Made my version of a patch for Procol Harum's "Evergreen" (one of my favourites songs forever) and Matthew Fischer's Hammond Organ. I did not choose the (normal) ROTARY effect but the SPACE-D. You can control its well-known rate (set from 20 to 70) with the GR's 55 EXP. Hope you like it. Excuse my playing. Just a quick recording.... ;)
Have fun!

Tip: But just let EXP down to the lower rates (PEDAL Heel Position for Whiter Shades of Pale) ENJOY! :)

TIP2 If you don't want to use the EXP Pedal change it in ASSIGN1 to the INTERNAL WAVE PEDAL. Rate should vary between 20 and 40 for Procol Harum.... ;)
Good luck.

Papabus, Sounds great can't wait to get home and tryit ;D

glassjawslipknot

I'm not real big into Organ sounds, but this patch is pure quality. I think you made it sound better than the song. The expression pedal takes it to another level. Very nice!

OldShepster

Spot on!!!  Really an outstanding tone, gonna get me some of that tonight!

Id like to hear this patch but Im unable to open it once downloaded.
Please help.
Thanks

papabuss

Hmmm..if you use Gumtown's floorboard editor you just have to load/open it.
If you mean the mp3 use the VLC media player.

Thx. Although produced nearly 50 years ago I sometimes believe it was one of the best songs ever....

I agree !

Back in 1985 - this tune was THE Demo song used my the Roland GR-700 Product Demonstrator at NAMM shows for a few years there.

And it was used as preshow warm up tune for Jimi Hendrix at Winterland 1968 . In my case everytime I hear this tune I'm taken back to SF Bay Area 1968 - where I grew up.

2004, Rolling Stone placed "A Whiter Shade of Pale" No. 57 on its list of the 500 Greatest Songs of All Time.

Of  course there were many questions and complaints how this TOP 500 list 'came together'.
I'd personally voted this song in the TOP 10.
Nevertheless this Rolling Stone 2004 edition is worth studying...

Btw : Guess which song was elected No.1
(I was wrong..)

And (more important) who was No.1 of the Greatest guitarists?
Oops I was right...!  :)

THX but I only want to get the sound very close to the original. Better is not possible. ;)

Just curious if there's a patch 'protocol' difference between what Floorboard saves on this patch vs the GR-55 Librarian?
When I load it into the Librarian and do a preview it just defaults to PCM 001 St. Piano 1.
Floorboard loads it as stated with the Perc Organ 067 tones.
BTW I'm using the last Beta Floorboard (not i-App version however) that Gumtown posted.

If you loaded it up correctly this would be strange, indeed.
Will check this as soon as possible.
Perhaps someone has a 'faster idea.'  :)

Just to clarify my procedure:
I've got a USB cable hooked to my GR-55 from my PC and my PC has the latest (and only I believe) Roland GR-55 driver and the GR-55 is turned on functioning OK.
I run Roland Librarian and I've got the Setup menu -> Setup MIDI Devices-> GR-55 IN and Out.
In the Librarian I use Open and choose ProcolHammond.gl5 from my downloads.
ProcolHammond appears in a second window in the Librarian.
I hit Preview and it loads into whatever User slot I'm currently in on the GR-55 temporarily replacing the patch there.
I hit Edit on the GR-55 and look at PCM tones.  They are unchanged from the original patch.
(I earlier reported I got 001 St Piano because I was on a blank Init patch).
This is how I've always previewed patches in Librarian, is there another way?

I guess I could permanently try a Write to my GR-55 but my slots are full at present.

As I reported earlier, Gumtown's Floorboard does do a correct load into the GR-55 and I can preview and play the ProcolHammond sounds and the PCM tones are indeed Perc Organ with the other settings.

I've seen some reports on this board about discrepancies in patches that are written and saved by Floorboard not loading correctly in Librarian so I just wondered if it was me!

If Gumtown's listening, can you shed any light?

Did you follow Gumtown's advice step by step?

Otherwise I suggest we should move the last posts to the GR Discussion area....

Thanks

This patch sounds spot on and the rotary on the exp pedal makes it ultra versatile, I'm using it alongside a naff sounding organ on my jv-1010 but it blends in real nice with your patch. Thanks a lot Papabuss  ;D
