I think it would be good to have the speed of the wave pedal tunable to an exact bpm ratio. also, the top speed isn't very fast, it needs to be faster.
It would be great to have a 'random' waveform as one of the possibilities for the wave pedal. That could really open up a few new doors.
Finally, re randomness, an effect similar to the obi-wah (which is a sample & hold filter based on the Obenheim VCF) from the line 6 FM4 / Filter Pro would be really useful. Oh, and a z-vex Seek Wah type effect!

It would be great if you could change settings of one control assignment with another. This way you can be flexible with you expression pedals, and switch the assignments. Having four instead of two parameters under every assignment would also be nice.

The original PDF pretty much covers the bases. I'm still disappointed at how limited the normal pickup inputs are as far as the signal chain goes. I also think they misinterpreted my request:
Allow both the rear ¼” phone Guitar Input and the GK 13 Input to be active at the same time. (right now users have to choose between one or the other). (Roland) - This feature already exists. Disable “Auto” on GK setting.
What I was _really_ asking for was able to get two extra flexible mono inputs instead of just one. The 1/4" and the GK normal pickup input. There is no way to get both of them "live" at the same time. It either automatically or manually selects one and mutes the other. Internally it's designated "normal pickup". I'd rather have these treated as two discrete inputs, or at least determine which one is live per channel. That way you could bring in separate mag and piezos into the VG-99 and do all blending per patch instead of on the guitar. You'd also be able to hook up a 2nd guitar to the 1/4" input and keep it on its own channel.
Not being able to route the normal pickup means if you have two dirty channels you can't get put the normal pickup post-amp to keep it clean. The only way to get any decent control over the normal pickup is to dedicate a whole channel to it. It's just hard to get the most out of the layering when the normal pickup just gets munged in with the COSM signal chain. The VG-99 really downplays the use of the normal pickup, perhaps because they think people will spend a lot of their time with alternate tunings in which they won't mesh well.

Although there are several "Normal Guitar PU Input paths ( Rear Guitar IN or Gk13 Cable IN) a simple Firmware update cant provide additional inputs to the DSP inside the VG-99 - to process two guitar chains, as there is only one physical mono A/D converter input to deal with one Normal Guitar pickup signal. Might have a look here: http://www.vguitarforums.com/smf/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=28.0;attach=965

I don't see a hardware reason you could not move the normal pickup around the signal chain.

The other thing I suggest after reading Roland's thing about setting the sensitivity for Guitar-To-MIDI for tracking is that they should have two sensitivity sections, one for VG and one for Guitar-To-MIDI so that you don't have to have compromised sensitivity for one or the other.

Well - actually you can reroute the "Normal Guitar PU in many ways - see the "System Output / USB " confiig screen ( see attached pic from VG-99 Editor)
The Normal Pickup can be routed to:
* Feed the SPDIF OUT(100% Normal PU Only )
* Feed the USB Audio Input ( To Computer) - which creates a path for recording dry guitar tracks - used for reamping (100% Normal PU Only )
as well as blending the Normal PU into Chain A or Chain B.
You can also use the Normal PU to perform MONO Pitch to MIDI functions.

Here are my thoughts (sorry for any duplication but may help to reinforce the popular requests): -
1. When you assign F1-6, the assigned parameter should be shown on the main display - not "PARAM1, PARAM2" etc which conveys no information. Obviously the info would need to be abbreviated or, ideally have the ability to name it yourself. Its very annoying when playing live not to be able to see the assigned parameters at a glance.
2. There should be the option for the Sub output to follow the main output volume level. I would like to be able to use the XLR outputs straight into the desk in a live situation but still be able to control my volume level with the main output knob but this isn't possible at the moment so the XLR outs are wasted. Similarly it would also be useful to send the main out's to one amp and the sub outs to another with different eq's applied to each, but again this won't work properly unless the sub tracks the main output.
3. It would be very useful to be able to assign whether the guitar input at the rear of the unit is used as opposed to the one on the GK-3. At the moment as soon as you plug into the rear input it cuts out the one on the GK3. I often use a main electric guitar with the GK3 fitted but need to switch to an acoustic guitar plugged in at the back. Currently the only way to do this is to normally leave the acoustic guitar plug half plugged-in and then push it fully in when I want to use it - not exactly professional in a live situation!
To make matters worse, when you plug into the rear guitar input, the guitar output switches to this input rather than the one on the GK3. If you could assign the guitar output so that it continued to output from the GK-3 input, then you could at least use an external a/b switch to select between what's coming from the guitar output socket (i.e the guitar input on the GK3) and another non-GK instrument (e.g. acoustic guitar).
Even better (as per another posting) would be to make the guitar in/out sockets completely assignable so that they could be used as FX send/ret if neccessary....
4. It would be useful to be able to move standard pickup around in the effects chain like you can with the COSM one.
5. I can't believe a better looper wasn't included on such a high-end device, but presumably this is a memory issue...

You can send the normal pickup to different outputs, which is nice. What I think you should be able to do is move around the insertion point in the FX chain.

If not on here already:
A master default settings for the FC300 (say VOL on right and WAH on left) what ever we program as default and have these defaults apply to ALL PATCHES - unless, we over ride the defaults in the patch itself with custom settings. This way we don't have to program the FC300 in ALL our patches. We prolly default to the same things most of the time - so this would be nice.
(if we have it already somewhere - let me know!) = )

This is possible already. I always have my VG-99 control input pedal set for Volume and switch 2 set up to be tap tempo. Look in the System/MIDI/USB page of the editor. Then click on the "CTL" button on the right. look at the System Control Assign section. Here you can set particular physical controls, such as all of the FC-300's controls, to always control one of several possible parmeters. Simply pick the control you wan to assign (such as "EXP 1 Pedal" and set it to control the parameter you want...such as "Guitar Volume". RTMP. Vance If not on here already:

It would be very nice to have Bill Ruppert patchs in the VG-99 in replacement of the Roland Patchs.

I read your original request .pdf, and I see that others have had issues with the pitch to MIDI translating when you remove your finger from a string as a pull-off, and thus triggering a note on. This is the one issue I can't get around - no matter how I set the sensitivity or feel settings.
The suggestion at the time was to provide a setting that would ignore open strings (I think I read that right?!), which was rejected by Roland as "not likely". I wonder if it would be possible, instead, to implement an input filter to weed out velocities below a certain level - so you could continue to perform pull-offs and hammer-ons, but not trigger a note every time you pick up your finger.

The problem is that once the note hits the host you typically have a note-on with some random value plus an immediate pitch bend msg to 'correct' the note. So it's hard to just filter below a certain threshold.

I think this was an intentional idea, to give the soundman a signal that doesn't change when *you* adjust your stage volume. Your FOH Soundperson will tend to like it when you give him a signal that isn't all over the place (I do). But it's simple enough to place DI's on your 1/4" outs if you insist on making life hard for your FOH Mixer. Separate eq between the Main and Sub outs however is a current option; in your VG99 software editor application click on the Global Settings "details" button to access the separate eq for the two paths. What might be nice features; 1. Separate EQ on the left and right channels of the VG99 Main mixer, with a "link" button; 2. Separate "Output Select" for main and sub outs: (in the "Global Settings" details.) 3. More complex delay options in the VG99 mixer section. Then you could maybe tweak eq the left main 1/4" out for a Fender Amp and the right output for a Marshall, and use the sub outs flat for your acoustic instrument patches. And one might also have an "Eric Johnson" style setup, where you have a couple of amps Dry in mono separately EQ'ed on the Main outs left and right, and a pair of JBL powered speakers in stereo with the wet delay/reverb signal returns in them on your sub outs. But that's too much gear for me to carry for a gig these days. Best, Billy
