I didn't find that tone gen stuff yet. (do you know what page it was on?)
Page 108
What I find interesting, is I set 3 pairs of strings to various  tones (patches) they didn't change on the display of the kb...  meaning the KB - still plays the tones/patchs its set to... while the guitar seems to reach INSIDE (to the tone gen) and not control the KB - and uses the KB's awesome tone.  (like - it can supply both at the same time. Someone could use the guitar tones and someone else could play the KB at same time (using different tones)   OR SO IT APPEARS... I need to try and replicate what I did last night again here in a minute.
Yes, it can be played via MIDI and from the keyboard at the same time as long as LOCAL ON is set for the keyboard and you do not exceed 32 voices at any given time.
My question - once I set this (I think I set the settings for each string inside the  "guitar to midi / patch" menu.... there are  "2 - control" options, then next page starts with string1.  (on the V99 is string one high e or low e?) I always think of 1 as high e.

Anyway - once set - so I have to  WRITE the patch? will this info save with EACH patch? (hoping so) or is this a system type config that doesn't need writing. I presume the former since it seems my setup is gone this morning upon power up.  I'll try the setup again and see what happens if I write the patch.
Yes, it will remember what you set for the MIDI sounds.

i just remembered that i have a little yamaha midi guitar i bought to travel with...  i may drag that out and try it... it has buttons instead of strings... but you play it like it has strings...  model EZAG, i think it is...

i quit trying it on midi because the buttons were so sensitive i had a lot of extra notes in the sequence... i don't know if i can adjust the sensitivity on the vg99 where it will cut out the extras or not...

something new to tinker with, anyway   Smiley

I have to leave - only got a minute
UPDATE - I just reprogrammed a different patch from the synth on each string - I SAVED the patch on the VG99 and on power down and up it was saved.

GETS BETTER - Im using guitar to midi - then click patch
settings

MONO (per string)    FEEL1(1)   chromatic  (OFF for real bends, good with intruments that can bend notes. Use ) hold1 setting for those that can't (Piano)

page2

you can set controls - like exp pedal cc#7 to control vol.

next page  string1.

I used  like  0 0 21
string two  0 0 113
string 3   0 121  39

ETC.  (for mm6 I imagine only)

I can then play a different synth patch on each of 6 strings (not that I'd want to - but can)
what's neat - I Can also play other patches at the same time via KB.  So if performing you can use the tone gen but the MM6 still seems to perform as normal.

GETS BETTER -  turning OFF guitar to midi - has normaml patch sounds, turning on guitar to midi ADDS the midi tones...  "AND GUITAR PATCH SOUND TOO"
if you like - else turn down the VG99 patch on the PATCH LEVEL dial on the VG99 to turn down the mix or TURN off the VG99 totally. Allowing only MIDI synth tones.

Amazing!
BLOWS AWAY ANY OF THE SOFT SYNTHS -  99.9% of the tones in Absinth are worthless noises to me.  Very few REAL instrument sounds in there that are any good.
I'll not use soft synths again. The MM6 is awesome with the VG99

Hey mad mike, I've got one of those as well. There's a forum dedicated to that particular instrument (but unfortunately nobody's posted there for quite some time) and you can download some software that helps out with the sensitivity. Here's the URL: http://www.brokebust.com/ezag/node

I don't mean to start a softsynth vs hardware war but, have you ever listened to Atmosphere/Omnisphere or Reaktor?

Every thing was going great - been using it a few days - demo'ed for a friend... tonight - I come power it up - and I get NO guitar to midi?

Any idea what would cause that?   It seems the MM6 keyboard isn't seeing it - I hear nothing from the MM6.

I can input to DAW via MM6 and V99 guitar to midi- when in record mode, the MM6 (is my midi output) and works)

but without DAW software in record mode - I get no mm6 sounds from the Vg99 and I don't recall changing anything.

Stumped.

First is GUITAR TO MIDI on?

I would need a little more info on your setup. Is the MIDI cable going out from the VG-99 to the MIDI IN of the MM6?

When you play the keyboard on it's keys does it make a sound?

Yes midi to guitar ON...  mono,  YES kb plays when touched,  VG99 guitar DOES work into DAW then output to MM6
Using VSB from VG99 to laptop - midi out from VG99 to MM6 in.  USB from mm6 to laptop.

I did keep trying to track down a problem - and I found that if I removed the USB from the MM6 it worked.  (strange I'm sure it worked before with the USB in).

so - problem isn't VG99 - it worked...  problem was MM6 doesn't  (at this point)  like USB to laptop AND VG99 sending in the midi port.   IT DID - allow both. Now it doesn't.

The one thing I changed was I had pulled the USB port out of the laptop from the MM6 and re-inserted it the next day (probably in a different USB port)  so maybe the driver got messed up?

any ideas?

Thats a big "no-no" - most drivers for music gear will require that you choose one specific USB port. You must reload the driver when swapping to a new USB port.

It does ask me to re-install and I say yes (as I do with my line6 gear)  and it seems it should then work fine, but doesn't at this point. I'll play with the drivers... at least I'm narrowing it down.
